I have a Life-Like Super Power Charger set HO
the train will be going along and gets to the same certain peice and will just stop, is this due to the railroad connectors being not tight, i tried using pliers to sqeeze them in but with no luck, they are still loose. could it be because i dont have any foam or anything under the track at the moment (it is just straight onto the wood)
has anyone had any troubles with the like life controller? its a grey box with 1 knob that u can turn to forward or reverse, when i try to go at a slow speed it sort of jolts along the track and will end up stopping somewhere or is this just the track issue still?
and am i a able to buy those railroad connectors seperately?
The set no doubt came with steel track, I had one of these years ago, ended up throwing it out.
Check where the power connects to the track, as a wire might be lose, if not, check all the track joints as one could be sitting higher up but that shouldn’t really affect the power conductivity.
If you want to get ‘serious’ I have a bunch of old Peco Flex track and a few points that I could send you, to get more reliable track, as i’m switching to HOn3.5 (QLD proto) this is nickel silver and is more reliable than the steel track.
yeah i guess it is steel track, as i put in the other post i am from Coffs Harbour and get up to Brisbane all the time, how much would you be looking at for your Peco track? maybe i can meet up with you next time im up there
I’m not too sure, I’ve got about 15 lengths of peco track and about 12 points. I’ve also got a couple of freight cars still and a Proto 2000 SW9 which would be good to get you kick started.
shoot me an email if you like and we can discuss further. It should be on my profile.
i think there is a fault with the controller because it doesnt work now, and i tested it by seeing if there was a spark and there isnt, only on the AC side, ill wait for 20 mins and see if the safety switch was tripped, if not ill have to send it back…
james ill send you an email soon, thanks for your help
Yes, those controllers are notorius for not being the beez neez, but you being a newbie wouldn’t have known. I might have an old reliable controller around that you could use, if not The CDA controllers made here in Australia are a safe bet.
No problems at all!, glad to help a fellow model railroader!
