Well, here is a family photo of sorts. The folks at the Kiva Valley Railway are pretty happy as they have added new engine to thier roster. Granted, its a G.E., but they wil take it as the ageing SD7 needs some help with the increased traffic.
I found a decal guy here in Phoenix, I just have to make up my mind how I want them look.
The engine is a Atlas U-30/33 that was undecorated.

The prototype companies should hire you to spruce up their paint schemes. The KVR is nicer than most of the real ones.
Let us know how your decal guy works out, OK? Most of them are just outrageously expensive, and are really geared towards the mass-production market. If you only want a sheet or two, it’s prohibitively expensive to have it done professionally.

I have one more big purchase to make for the Kiva Valley Railway and they will be for 2 steam engines, then I am done for awhile. Only thing left to do is paint up one more caboose liek the one in the picture. Always looks good haveing more than one. does 2 make a fleet? [:)]
The budget is shot until the summer. I got a really great deal from a good freind of mine who has more train stuff then he will ever use and helped me out by selling the Atlas GE-33 AND the P2k SD7 for only 50 bucks! His only request was to make sure they got a good home.
Nice paint scheme…but…WEATHER them up. Look at SOO line locos to see how quickly White on a loco gets dirty.

Thanks Mr B. Ya know, the ironic thing was I came up with a scheme awhile back that would have been orange and black. For some reasonm, I really liked the black with silver trucks looks, just needed another color. I figured orange would be good, nice saftey color… Well wouldnt ya know it, along came BNSF with new scheme… Punks!
I got pretty lucky as far as the decals go. I found a gentleman that does professional restoration of old Lionel stuff. he has all the decal stuff and can make 6 sets of decals for around 15 bucks. Plenty fair for me.
Ugh I know… but they look sooooooo good. Some day, I promise. Unitl then, I have all my visting power weathered. [:D]
Actually I’ll be in Tempe in November for 1 night then Kingman the next day, I doubt I would have time to get together, My Dodge Magnum will be full of the CFO’s baggage. We go out west every year to see my Mom in Albuquerque and then drive to Vegas. We have a time share there. You’ll love this : We’re driving down to Tempe to eat at TED’S hotdogs stand, we have eaten at every TED’s in Buffalo New York, the owner has moved to Pheonix and built one there for his own amusment. We have a mission to eat at every one so we have to go there and have a dog.[:D]

Even though I love EMD & newer GE’s, I ended up including an older GE in the mix just to be fair.

Thats a godo question. The box simply says U-30/33 on it I am sure there are some small details, like a door here or a extra vent here. I am just not that famailar with theolder GE’s. But I am learning. [:D]
No kidding. Well if ya wanted to meet up, it will be easier than ya think. I work about 2.5 miles from Ted’s and only live about 6 miles away. [:p] And yes, they are good hot dogs. Been there a few times myself.
We will have to keep in touch. Just might have to hook up just for the heck of it!
I’ll see if I can find out the visual differences between U30C and U33C.
