I received the unpainted brass one, NJ Custom, but only $75.00 from an online mrr site that many miss.
Just back from the paint shop. This particular numbered car originally had white lettering and was change to black lettering. I choose the black version. I have a couple photos of both versions.
I have to paint the wheels and do some light weathering.
The NYC made five of these from older 40’ boxcars.
Nice job, Rich. [tup] Quick question though. Is the red faded (weathered) that lightly on purpose? That’s VERY light - i.e. compared to how the NYC Pacemaker boxcars/cabooses originally came from the paint shop.
That is because of the camera and not the best lighting.
I have a couple NYC Central caboose books and the Pacemaker Polly S red seems to be right on versus the Polly S Pacemaker gray which seems kind of dark so we went with Scalecoat II NYC light gray. Yes, this could be interpreted differently by others. I am happy with the results.
I have three photos of this custom painted car with #20133 by NJ Custom and the colors seem to match quite close when I compare my car and the NJ one on the PC display.
But then, my Pacemaker box cars vary in color because of four different model manufactures and I know there is a fifth manufacturer of this particular model car.
Of course, I am just playing with toys so no big deal.
They will be pulled by a pair of Stewart NYC VO-1000’s, or BLI A/B F3 or BLI F7A/B F7. All are sound locos.
I would like a BLI Mohawk but that is out of my price range.
Another club memebr also has the Pacemakers freight and a 19,000 NYC wood caboose, plus the Mohawk.
When we run together, we take up most of the club layout. He has about 30 cars to my 24 cars.
Here are a couple better photos. NYC Light Grey was used instead of the Polly S Pacemaker Grey. The Pacemaker Grey seems a little darker than the Grey I see in some prototype NYC color photos.
I have heard that the hand rails were white and some say yellow. Could not tell from from some of the couple photos I have. I am sure I do not have a lot of paint info for the NYC caboose series.
The Red is Polly S Pacemaker Red , F414263.
I replaced the stock wheels with better wheels but they do need to be painted. The complete caboose could use some weathering as all the Pacemaker proto pictures show them “weathered”.
