So, what happened to the old Chief Safety Officer?

And why?

Why do I think maybe a railroad man could have been a better choice … ?

Because railroads have been doing a better job of not killing passengers and workers than airlines?

Well, you have a point there.

It has been 8 years since there has been a US commercial airline passenger fatality. And they carry way more passenger miles than the rails.

When I read this, I thought the new head of Amtrak came from an airline so he probably likes the idea of having other airline personnel working with him. Amtrak has had some high profile wrecks with the one in PA and now WA, so maybe he might be better at spinning the facts. Let’s hope it all works out well

The current CEO of Amtrak is also the former CEO of Delta they probably worked well together at the airline or something.

Don’t forget that the head of United came from CSX. Seems to be a two way street!
