Oh come on now…This approach is old as the hills!
When a railroad is purchased by another railroad the standard line is “Nothing will change” Within months everything changes

Even if some jobs move from Kansas to Wisconsin, how is this supposed to be news? This happens every time one company purchases another. Some jobs are redundant and unlike government or General Motors, are eliminated. Other jobs are relocated to corporate and the employees in question if any good, are asked to relocated. Unless of course, it is government or General Motors where new but useless positions are created because some backward thinking union must be kept happy or they will strike. Only the kooks in Madison and other liberal enclaves fail to grasp reality.

Isn’t this the kind of thing the railroads did in the 1970s? Removing local management to some far away and detached realm makes for bad customer service.

Jeffery, you have some of that Tea Party Kool-Aid you wish to share?

If owners are the ultimate decision makers, and basically the law orders them to be, then the further away you are from the owners the less of a decision maker you are likely to be, regardless of whether the corporation really wants that result or not. You can’t lose local ownership and then expect nothing to change. The interesting thing of course is that WSOR and Watco don’t own their tracks, the state does. That fact alone has the potential for some interesting developments if the railroad gets too detached from local needs and situations.

What Jeffery says is true. Get over it.

They had specifically said they were not going to do that. Trains reported that a few issues back.

Thank you Dr. William J McDonald…

Thank you Dr. William J McDonald…

Those who buy things don’t leave their new toys alone for long.

Dr. Macdonald of Vermont . Learn to use a computer so we do not have to reread the same same half whitted remarks over and and over etc. HBF How and why do you have any expertise about railroad shortlines in Wisconsin. As your neighbor in New York you have plenty of work to do in in the mess that your state has become and leave professional railroad management where it belongs with the OWNERS of the property. If you can do better buy the thing and see how intelligent you really are.

+1 on Jim Norton’s comment.

Name calling and hate are not affective… Jeff. Hey Jeff did you know here in Wisconsin we the tax payers own pretty much all the trackage the WSOR runs on? We are fitting the bill…you didn’t seem to bring that up when you were ragging on GM or Unions etc. Don’t worry…I’ll still wave to you when your track side with your camera because I have a open mind and most of all I’m a tolerant person.
