NHSHobbies?? Online store closed?

Hello modelers,

I haven’t been in the hobbie for a little while but oldman winter finally got the best of me and I turned to my layout once again. I apologize if this has been covered already.

I just tried to get on www.nhshobbies.com and I get a little window saying that the online store is closed until September. Did I miss something? Need a new online site with good prices. I know, silly quesiton.

Not silly, really, but silly to assume that these guys were the only game in town. Trainworld, MB Klein (dba Model Train Stuff) and Blue Ridge Hobbies have always worked for me. Some people would add Lenz Hobby Shop (dba Wholesale Trains) to that list.

There are lots of places on the web to get stuff at good prices.

As far as these guys go, I never used them, but for a small business, that’s not a good sign. If, as someone says, they are in fact a hardware store that picked up the business on the side, perhaps they need to eliminate the distraction for a while.

Their eBay store is still there

I just visited that link and found only 15 items, total, listed in their Trains - HO category; think I’ll stick with MB Klein!

Looks like it was part of a hardware store that closed. A smaller facility with general hobby items apparently opened in a new location: http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/nhs-hobbies-ridgewood#UHTEdVZfABTiPqN2loefug

Thanks for the info. I knew there were other places out there just didn’t know what was good anymore. NHS was just my go to. Bummer.

Depending on what I need or want. MB Klein, Trainworld, and Toy Train Heaven. They are great sources and all great to deal with.

Yes, Kleins, TTH, and a few others are my go-to online shops. Any shop with a small inventory online usually gets forgottne by me quickly since it’s not worth revisiting.

BTW, when I saw NHS, being married to a Brit, I thought National Healthcare Service - heh heh.
