[^o)] I have a chance to buy a NIB Weaver Masonic Train set in a coming estate sale. The engine is a PRR 1923 C1 080 O gauge with 5 cars ~~ all freight . The caboose is lit and the tender is wired for sound . The engine has working lights., and smoke. Any one know what would be a good price ?? also it has a set of tools for maintanance on engine.

Since it’s O-scale related, the fellas on the Classic Toy Trains forum would probably have a better handle on this sorta thing.

Go over to the Classic Toy Trains section of these forums, I think you’ll get quicker answers. Most of the folks here are in HO or N. Not that we haven’t had our share of O in the past, just the probability of more current information is greater over there.
Good luck,
Richard
[:)] Thank you gentlemen for your time to steer me in the right direction.

Just for fun, I did a Google search, a set sold on eBay back in March, for $299, only one bidder. In 2000, a Masonic Lodge in PA. offered the set for $500, and I believe they said it was a $650 value. And Worthpoint and LiveAuctions each sold a set, but you have to be a member of each to see what the price was. They both estimated the set at $250.
That’s what I found out on a quick search.
The MTH O gauge Caterpillar set I picked up for the grandson, listed at $360, and I bought one, new in the box, from a guy on Craig’s List for $35. Not that it’s any kind of a comparison to what your buying, just thought I’d throw that in.
Weaver is supposed to be good quility.
Good luck !
Mike.
[:)] WOW , you said “good quality” is true. Very well in detail. The engine weighs probably 2lbs. The tender is a heavy weight also and wired for sound. Mike thank you for the return post.

P.S. Maybe 450.00 is a nice price ??
I remember that set being sold on ebay about 6 months ago and it didn’t go for that much I believe it was just over $200 and basiclly to me if you ever wanted to resell it you would do better with a masonic group than others but you know really the bottom line is what your willing to spend and feel good about it.
heres one listed which I think hes fishing for intrest http://www.ebay.com/itm/MASONIC-DIE-CAST-TRAIN-SET-O-GAUGE-1985-/251265937976?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item3a809df238#ht_89wt_709
