OK, let’s see, a circle is 360 degrees.

Horseshoe curve is reported to be 220 degrees, that leaves 140 degrees…

still want to call it a near circle?

It was a 3 day thrill for me to see, hear, chase and photograph NKP 765 in Harrisburg and on the WB run across the PRR’s famed Middle Division. For over 5 decades I have wanted to see steam on the half circle that is Horseshoe Curve. I can attest that good things come to those who wait. Thank you NS and FWHS!

Not to be nit-picky, but why was the PRR heritage unit not involved during the movements in Pennsylvania? From Jim Wrinn’s photo, the NKP unit is behind the N&W tender.

We rode behind 765 last fall as it substituted for PM 1225. It was a beautiful engine.

We caught the eastbound leg from Conway to Enola last Monday, the 13th. We got a great view of her on the curve at South Fork, and then at Gallitzin when she stopped so an engineer could board the Heritage NKP unit for dynamic braking on the way down to Altoona. I estimated the crowd in Galltizin at about 200. I thanked the crew for giving us the opportunity to witness such a marvelous piece of machinery in action. If only someone could talk Wick Moorman into reviving 611 and / or 1218…

Best. Chase. Ever. Thank you Norfolk Southern thank you Fort Wayne Historical Society This was thebfirstntime I’ve seen steam since ebt’s fall spectacular last year which was only steam railroad within 100 miles of my house once again thank you

The IRS says over .50 is to be rounded up to $1.00 220 is over half of 360. Plus entry curves?

I wonder when 765’s sister #587 will return to revenue service again.
It’s current place the Indiana Transportation Museum said it would be back by late 2012.
I’ve been waiting for months for 587 to come back.
And I believe 587 had it’s undergoing and overhaul 10 year restoration.
I think 587 will be in service by November of 2012.

AH, Hearing a Berk fight up Horseshoe again would be a treat! Was behind Her fleet Sister #759 when Ross walked her up the mountain at about 11mph. You could feel the Cylinder pluses through the car. We got to the top, and stopped on the Loop around track just west of the Tower ( ALTO?) to await a signal. Ross started us up and never slipped a wheel!

A proper circular term for Horse Shoe curve would be a semicircle.
