I am just curious, why did VMT sell Nickle Plate 2-8-4 #763 to Ohio Central? Did VMT get anything in return like for trade? What are the specifics of the transaction?
To put it simply, VMT needed the cash. It is well known that VMT has been perpetually short of funding in recent years.
Is this the same Nickle Plate that is sitting in North Judson, Indiana being restored? Just had a Memorial Day ride on the Nickel Plate 765 (North Judson, Indiana). Same run will occur on Father’s Day Weekend.
No it is not. NKP 763 was purchased from the VMT and now resides at the Ohio Central. The engine you’re referring to at North Judson is a different one; can’t remember its ID right now.
There are currently two 2-8-4s at North Judson: NKP 765, which lives in Ft Wayne, is fully restored, and running in IN and MI for the next several months, and C&O 2789, which is in LOTS of pieces, and will be in the shops for years to come.
(and not to sound like the spelling police, but there’s no such English word as NICKLE. It’s NICKEL)
