Nippon Sharyo to build components plant in Illinois

If the taxpayer is paying Nippon Sharyo $352M for a bunch of rolling stock and the company is investing $540M in a components plant, never mind the money spent on the existing plant, where is the difference coming from?

Wait. Never mind. This is the long reach under the table of Chicago deal making behind closed doors, under the table. You can be certain Nippon Sharyo is making out at taxpayer expense. The real question is, how well are the Chicago backroom deal makers in Washington hiding it? Is there corruption? Does a bull provide the contents going into a manure spreader? Not saying the Japanese are corrupt. Try the socialist regime from Hyde Park. And when the orders dry up at Nippon Sharyo? Declare it too big to fail and prop it up with more taxpayer money. Or Nippon Sharyo could sell it to CAT and make it another non-union operation, just like Muncie.

2018!!! I thought we would start seeing some of these cars in 2014/15.

Wow, someone needs to read for comprehension! $352M is for the 130 Amtrak bilevels… the story shows total production by 2018 planned to be 330 cars. Somewhere along the way, those other 200 cars just might cover the other $188M.

Well said Mr. Gorecki! Guse, care to rebuttal…I didn’t think so!!! I suppose you’re conjuring up a scheme to solely blame the UAW for the downfall of the domestic auto industry.

I’m going to try to be respectful to Mr. Guse, but his comments make it hard. Dude if you hate the direction our country is going in so bad, try moving to Mexico or perhaps Canada. Oh I’m sorry Canada has “socialized healthcare” so that wouldn’t be a good spot for you. Did you complain this much when Mr. Oil Man Bush was in office and our gas prices skyrocketed through the roof?? Probably not. But oh yeah that’s the Eco terrorist fault. Why are such a oppenent of passenger rail. I’m curious to know if you drive on those “socialized” highways or attended a “socialized” public school. Your rhetoric and bs comments about every single thing concerning passenger rail and the government is getting pretty old. Most people on here have something insightful to say even if I disagree with them. When I see your name in the comment section I already know what you are about to rant about before I even read it. This stuff gets old and I heard North Korea is offering citizenship to people just like you.

In regards to Mr. Guse, he knows nothing about railroading. He contributes nothing to this forum. He is a non-union truck driver who spends too much time in his truck, breathing too many diesel fumes, driving, and being under paid. It was his choice. He is just jealous of anybody, who makes a living wage. He should be banned from posting on this forum. Also, I am sure he would love N. Korea. He does resemble the current Grand Leader. I am sure they would enjoy each others company.

I just knew how proud Jeff Guse likes to share his statesmanship of being a man from Illinois! What a crackpot!

Can’t y’all see? Jeffery’s just a chain puller. Ignore him long enough and he’ll eventually go away. Meanwhile, here’s a limerick to ease the annoyance:

Oh there was a TRAINS poster named Guse.
No testier troll could you choose.
Yes he caused so much pain
When he pulled on our chain,
That he cried, “There’s no way I can lose!”

Reference Guse comments and those offended: Isn’t this a free country? A good decision is based on thorough discussion, even an opposition view leads one to see where the correct path might be. If Guse view is shortsighted, so be it, and the correct path reinforced by the “better view” if you see it that way and not “his view”. Let your view be known, thus a good choice of the best approach to a situation.

Get real Mr. Guse, the additional factory built in USA, built in an area that needs employment and tax base. There may be tax deals at the start up, but that happens with all companies. We need the factories, jobs, and investment made in America.
