I found out about this train, and have been asked to spread the word, so here goes:
On Saturday, December 12 and Sunday the 13th, several local railroads will be coming together to sponsor a Toys For Tots train. Over the two days, it will be making several pickup stops, where donations can be made, and there will be plenty of photo opportunities.
The train will have equipment from Norfolk Southern (GP40-2 3010), NJ Transit, Morristown & Erie, and New York, Susquehanna, & Western. Power will be NS 3010, a NJT loco, and maybe M&E and NYS&W. The toys will be held in ME 1775, a camo painted boxcar to honor the founding of the Marines in 1775. Additional cars from the other railroads may also be on the train (info not yet available).
On Saturday, the train will run on M&E rails (High Bridge and Dover & Rockaway Branches), and on NYS&W rails on Sunday.
This is a great cause to make a donation for the less fortunate. It is also a rare opportunity to catch a special train. They are counting on us to make this train a success. If you are in the area, spread the word to all your friends, railfan and non-railfan.
