Even though the new station won’t be an exact replica of the old, it’s good that the design will respect the original architecture. We can and should do better than building simple “Amshacks.” Kudos to NJT.
The old Anderson Street station was a quaint and picturesque bit of old Hackensack but it wasn’t in the best of repair and was totally inadequate for today’s usage. Of course a bus-stop booth is a much worse proposition - it is good NJ Transit is building a station in the ‘spirit’ of the original. Now if only they would remove the bus-stop booths up the line at New Bridge Landing and build an actual station and covered platform.
$571,000 for a shed??? You have got to be kidding. You could build a four bedroom colonial with all the trimmings for that kind of money.

Regarding Albert Bright’s remark, many years ago there was a station building of somewhat similar architecture to Anderson St. at what is now called New Bridge Landing. The stop was then known as “North Hackensack”. Maybe someone has a picture of it.
