NJ Transit expanding Jersey Shore service

Thats cool bro!

Might as well, NJ Transit. Most of your rolling stock floated down that way any way after Hurican Sandy.

Why not go the whole way and power the train with the new dual-power ALPs. That would eliminate the need for the change at Long Branch and make it a “true express.”

While this maybe good news. Too bad it doesn’t include the restoration of the one seat ride from Bergen County to the Jersey Shore. What with the increase of traffic on the Garden State Parkway and New Jersey Turnpike that and construction, this service should return.

To paraphrase President Obama’s remarks today: The Jersey Shore is alive and well! It has survived Hurricane Sandy. “Jersey Strong!”

Wonderful news, and I congratulate all the people who so bravely and quickly had services running again after Hurricane Sandy.

Hey, NJT! For the JerseyShore service expansion kickoff, get NS to send over its PRR and CNJ heritage units to run from Long Branch to Bayhead to honor the line’s NY&LB history. And do some ceremonial juice-to-diesel swaps with them at So. Amboy. Sorry, no operating GG1s, K4s, Camelbacks or Babyface Baldwin double-enders are still around for the big day.
