NJ Transit management prepared for possible labor strike

This story neglects a lot of information: the fact that this has twice gone to Federal arbitration and twice the arbitration board has suggested a settlement which the unions accepted but NJT refused; that the unions want to have wages and benefits similar to what MNRR, MTA, LIRR, SEPTA, Amtrak, CSX, NS, and CSAO all have in the region (and where union labor has drifted to leaving NJT with less experienced employees); NJT managers are seen by many in NJ to be political payoffs by Governor Christie; that NJT has said they might just lock out unions; that both sides are supposed to be in D.C. this week with Federal Arbitrators in a last ditch effort. Some in NJ feel that NJT management doesn’t have enough qualified people to operate much should there be a Lock Out or Strike…one question being is how many have Federal licenses to operate trains?

Henry, maybe Chris Christie will return to NJ and run some trains.
