NJ Transit moves to protect equipment as hurricane season looms

Hurricane season isn’t LOOMING. It’s been here since 1 June and the heart of the season begins on 1 August, every year.

While hurricane season is here, and has been here as Mr. Cecil says, 2013 is unusual in that there have been zero hurricane force storms so far. NJ transit, I would say, has been paying attention to weather forecasts. Bravo!

Putting these trains down along the coastal marshes and meadows is not much protection. They need to store trains on higher ground away from water and water courses. Port Morris is, in effect, the best location being probably the highest point on NJT, built on a lot of fill, and not near any major water course or body. This is also a good location for operations center or at least a total back up venue.

Ya think they learned anything from last year??
