NMRA Div4 show -- Berea, OH

Anyone planning on heading up to the NMRA Div4 trainshow at Berea (Cuyahoga County) Fairgrounds on Oct 6th/7th?

Been a year or two since I’ve been up there, is it still as good as say 4 years ago?

I’ve never been . . . is it worth the trip from Stow? Paul D

Dan,

I’m planning on going on Saturday AM. Last year I spent nearly the entire day there. Personally, I think it’s as good as it has been and, in some respects, better. Last year I had a great time talking to Clare from Sylvan Models. Very nice fella.

I was disappointed with Railfest earlier this year, as there really wasn’t anything that I found of interest. Seemed a number of the better vendors decided to stay home that weekend.

Tom

Good deal, Tom.
I’m thinking of going Saturday myself – hopefully can/will run into people from the forums, and get a chance to chat [:)]

Dan,

How 'bout we meet outside the 2nd building on the left (where the hot dog wagon is usually located) at noon? Anyone else coming on Saturday and interested in meeting up is more than glad to do so.

Larry, are you going to make it this year?

Tom

Hello I will be there on Saturday also. I think the show has been real good the last few years. I aways come home with something I need.

Tom are going with the NYC hat this year?

Paul it is worth the ride from stow I live in Twinsburg it takes me about 20 min or so to get there. There is a ton of stuff to buy some new, some old, some junk. There a few layouts running. You can find some good deals if you look. If you have the time check it out. Have a nice day Frank

Tom,As it now stand yes… That’s one show I hate to miss…4 big buildings and its easy to locate good deals or quality use stuff.

Last time I was up that way I found some hard to find Athearn 5347 and 5344 RTR boxcars.

Absolutely! If one decides to attend two shows per year they should be

The Berea show has 4 buildings worth of layouts and goodies

And

The Dalton Show…One every large hanger size building.

Yes, I probably will, Frank. But you ought to know my ugly mug by now. [(-D]

Tom

Dan,

Unless something changes, I plan to be there on Saturday. I try to get to this show every year. In my opinion it is one of the better shows in the area.

See you all there.

Hello Planning to be there on Saturday morning, looking forward to seeing all of you at noon. Steve

Quick question guys. Is there a place inside where someone can sit down and have some refreshments? It’s been a couple of years since I’ve made it up there, and I don’t recall any facilities like that. If we would drive up to the show, the wife needs somewhere to sit down and wait while I make the rounds. Thanks, Tom

Should be. There is for every other event. Here’s the address for a map to the fairgrounds. http://www.cuyfair.com/grounds_map.php Gate 5 is the Berea Rd. entrance. Bldg 15 is an open pavilion loaded with picnic tables. In summer, they also have a few in the space just left of bldg 25 . . . and there are rest rooms all over the place. Paul D

“inside” – probably not. Refreshments and such are usually handled via 2-3 “carnival” stands (e.g. sausage & peppers, lemonade, etc) outside one of the central buildings (2?), with some picnic tables nearby. They have “covered” areas, but more along the lines of the metroparks (roof, no walls) rather than a building with walls, as those are filled with trains [;)]…

Thanks guys,

I couldn’t remember any areas to sit down in an enclosed building and that the refreshments were sold from those carnival type trailers, but I thought it I would ask. I think we were there 2 years ago and it was raining heavily and pretty cold. So I guess I will pass the show up. Hope everyone has a good time. Tom

Bumpin’ this up to the top - just in case someone in the NE Ohio area hasn’t seen it yet. Looking forward to seeing a number of you at noon on Saturday.

Tom

Hi all - Expect to make the rendevous at noon. Would love to meet some fellow modelers. Will be wearing a white hat, black brim, with a C-130 Hercules on the front. Say hello. Looking forward to it. Paul D

I’ll be wearing my usual black NYC baseball cap and red fleece jacket.

Tom

Looking forward to seeing some of you tomorrow @ noon.

Tom

And - in case of inclement weather - we’ll meet just inside the doorway of Building #2, on the left.

Tom
