I just recently ordered my On3 gauge from the NMRA and it took almost 4 weeks for it to get to me. I had to pay $6.50 in shipping and when it got to me the postage was $0.63. I guess the $5.87 was for expediting it! On top of that it was defective and I had to have them ship out another one.
If you need an HO gauge your best bet is to order it thru your LHS, you should get it within a week as Walthers has it in stock and on sale for $8.98. Looking at Spidge’s picture I would guess he’s in N scale, in which case Walthers doesn’t have the N scale gauge in stock and the best thing to do would be to go directly to the NMRA.
BTW, Long’s recently closed for good. Give Milepost 38 a call, 714-970-3751.
Gage is also written all over the diagram instruction sheet too.
Didn’t get a certificate of authenticity, though. Hummm…
Maybe that is the reason.[:o)]
The spelling “gage” is actually correct for the old days when there was a distinction between “gage” and “gauge.” Gage meant the actual mechanical measuring device like the check gage from the NMRA. Gauge, as applied to railroads (model or real) would be the distance between the rails. So you would measure the track gauge with a track gage.
Not sure what a “guage” is. Or how you pronounce it.
goo-AGE???
Don’t get me started on the old difference between “battery” and “dry cell.”
Great idea as live close but both have closed. Long’s sold everything and I went by trainquest on 8/29 and the suite was empty. Hopefully they just moved. I have looked for this at these shops and have never been lucky enouph to catch them with one.
In addition I just received an order from micromark with the guage, gauge, gage( does it realy matter that much ), BACKORDERED. Why who would have guessed. I frequent milepost38 and they never have it in stock either.
