Nice!
I have dreamed of seeing this Engine in person for decades. Having donated, Ill be happy to see her at Spencer, what a trip this will be!! Fire up 611 !!!
Been looking forward to see the steamliners!!
Another good reason to go to Spencer, if I didn’t have enough already. Maybe we can sneak 4501 there too, and have a real reunion.
With all due respect to the Es, Fs, and PA already in the lineup, 611 may be the best-looking streamliner there!
I already purchased tickets. I bought them before learning about this, so learning this makes me more pumped to go!
A great reason to go to Spencer or anywhere else to see this superb historical icon from N&W’s past!
May 29th would be a appropriate day for #611 to arrive in Spencer for rebuilding. She was placed in service May 29th, 1950.
Great news! Can’t wait to see her in Spencer!
This is great news.
Is this a 01 April ‘thingie’?
How 'bout towing the displaced GG-1, from Harrisburg to Spenser? A New Haven EP-3, in mufti, but an iconic ‘streamliner’.
Wondering what diesel will get the honor of pulling her down there? I be fine with a heritage unite or some high nose gp38.
I chased and road a trips c. 1981 from Roanoke to Newport News and Alexandra behind 611. Be neat to see her back in steam.
Hmm … time to dust off my Eumig S810D and watch some 8mm Super8 … that’s FILM, btw … lol!
Hi I would like to donate to help get her work done. We’re can I send it. Thanks
Steam locomotives, especially those in operation are good PR tools for any railroad, especially it it’s part of that railroad’s heritage and past. Yes, they are expensive to maintain, but if they can share the costs through a non-profit, it is worth it. Look what Uniom Pacific is doing to bring a Big Boy back to life, too.
Will Trains Magazine be doing “Live Streaming Video” of 611’s move to Spencer?
Maybe Norfolk Southern can find a diesel #484 to pull the 611 and put N&W and Southern Railway Hertiage Diesels behind 611.
