The August issue of Running Extra by the Mountain State Railroad & Logging Historical Association has the official announcement that there will be no MSR&LHA Cass Railfan Weekend in 2016. Lowering attendance is one of the factors that led to the decision. I didn’t see anything on their website as of today.
I will venture the operator of the connecting line, who now is the operator of Cass, uses the CRW to vacuum patrons to his other venues. At one time when Cass was independent, patronage was significantly higher. Cass is now under a reservation only set of conditions. No longer can you drive up and decide to ride the next train.
