For a small fee, (which im not going to pay) you can view the photo’s without popups.
That was a setup in the beginning.
People over there actually pay for that too.
WHAT A CROCK!
Yeah, what a shame to voluntarily pay a fee in appreciation for the service they provide, whether you upload photos there or look at what’s in the database…
Wow…screw that.
Thats a crock of *** if ive ever seen one. They should have a “donate” button or something[:(!]
OK…I’m not a big fan of pop-ups like the rest of the world, but at the same time I understand that they are providing a free service for the storage, and viewing of rail related photos. They have to make their money someplace.
Personally, I keep my shots at www.pbase.com. They charge some nominal fee for 300 Mb of storage, but browsing A LOT of pictures is absolutely free.
I guess I’ve never really been attracted to RP due to their web page set-up and such more than the pop-ups. Just my [2c]
$3.00 / month!! I’ll go broke! This is so stupid! I can’t believe it! Before you know it I’m going to start having to pay for other services too!
But if they get rid of popups, how will you know if you are the 1000th visitor to a page and win a fabulous prize?
Seriously, though, while I’m no expert on these things, I think that they might make money from having these popups that enable the site to keep going. I can’t see why else they would have these popups if they are capable of getting rid of them. The $3.00 fee is probably so that they can recoup their losses from this. Or perhaps they have to pay somebody to stop sending them. Like I say, I’m no expert in this field, so if I’m out to lunch, please say so.
Google has a super popup blocker[:o)][:D][:p]
