No RailSounds

Hello. I bought a TMCC engine (F3) set (6-14536) with the rail sounds. On my test stand, using a Legacy Cab-2 in TMCC mode, every thing works fine, it seems. Crew cab lights are always on, headlights work as they should, all the lights work as they should. Smoke generator is good (can’t compare to legacy engines though_ coupler works, direction button works, but, no start up or shutdown sound, no crew/Tower talk, no RPM sounds, etc. I’m baffled. Think the board is fried? Anything I can do to test/isolate the problem? Thanks.

A lot forget a lot of the railsounds engines ( tmcc ) have a switch underneath for signal see if its thrown towards the signal as that would give you just horn and bell

Yes, thanks. i checked that. Manual also says some of the sounds require the smoke switch to be on. did that also. I think my North bound is South bound![banghead]

call or email boxcar bill he sells parts for lionel and ERR he may be able to tell you a way to test and he normally gives a discount from quoted SRP http://www.mttponline.com

Is this one of the F-3’s with the sound package in the “B” unit?

[:)]Gents. well I fixed my problem. I"ve never opened my TMCC/Legacy engines thinking I wouldn’t be able to know if anything was wrong. However, there was a rattle inside the shell and I thought, lets look. Sure enough, a circuit board was roaming free. Must have been dislodged in transit. It was a simple, plug it back in, close’er up and success. Everything is A-OK. Good lesson for me. I will not be shy in the future. Thanks for everyone that took the time to reply/respond. Greatly appreciated. Now, I need to build my layout and get this puppies off the test stand!

Ed…Your loose circuit board is a common problem. When I install ERR units I use a little electrical tape to make sure they stay connected.
