No running train

I have a oo gauge train that will not run on my track when another smaller train will , the non runner works on a friends track , I have been told it might be my controller which is an Hornby one with an output of 16v •5amp advise please.

this depends i was setting up a o guage and i spent all morning trying to figure it out sure enough 1 straight section had a bad insulator on the hot rail(middle) and that was causing it not to move.

as far as your transformer look up places that do model trains call up ask if they can test transformers. when you go up to get it tested bring your engine and ask them about it.

but thats where id start bring your transformer and engine to a hobby shop see if they can help u figure it out.

now i can see older transformers having issues with wiring. i have a kw sitting my my bedroom im gonna sell as parts cause it dont work i had to buy another one tested and working.

but anyhow those are some issues i ran into setting up my o guage

btw welcome to the railroadin community

Welcome on board Tonyo1.

If you post pictures of the locomotive and Hornby controller it may help.
How old is the controller? Hornby controllers can become suspect over time. It has happened to me. I ended up buying Gaugemaster controllers.
