new to ho but noticed that in the packets of # 5 couplers w/boxes theres no screws for mounting ,is this the norm ? and if so where does one buy those little gems ?..not @ my local true value Im shure. thanks J.W.
Actually my local hardware stores have a selection of 2-56 screws in various lengths. Your local hobby shop should also have them. Granted, these are not the cheapest sources. But if you’re only looking for a pair of screws it’ll be cheaper than paying the shipping on a bulk pack of 50 or 100.
Oh. In a lot of applications, the car model comes with a suitable draft gear box into which the coupler is mounted and no screw is required. Most folks who have been in the hobby for awhile probably have a small container full of the Kadee boxes.
thank you sir, I would never guessed a hard ware store… local hobby / train 70 mimute drivone way, shipped is better option somtimes …you no in g scale you get screws ,shims and such…so I just assumed…J.W.
boltdepot.com has what you need for less than 4 bucks for a box of 100. i don’t know about shipping. if you are going to be in this hobby for a while you will use them up eventually. pick up a couple of steel nuts and if you must cut the screws off, run a nut down on it first the back it off to restore the threads.
