no time flat............

Well… from the last post the old layout is GONE! What took me over 2and 1/2 years to reach the tear down phase , it took 2 evenings to COMPLETELY remove from the house. Salvaged all of the track, and a bunch of the scenery materiels. Even managed to save some ballest. Packed away all buildings and cars. Have used the display shelf for all locos. Its powered by the way. Next step is to tackle the garage so I can start the new layout. Enjoying planning more than I thought I would.

As for tearing down I found myself at the point of not wanting to work on it cause Ive learned soooooooo much in the past 2 years that knowing that I did this and that wrong that I was done with it.

Got a space that has a bunch of potential for a great layout. Shelf type around the walls with a duckunder that will basically cut the garage in half. Well that is where this mans at with the mrring. Having too much fun…

Will post pics of before and after along with construction updates.

Sounds like you are pumped. Good luck getting it all to come out as you envision.

I hear you. I dismantled my old layout this March. Much of it went into the new, including the folding table legs. It didn’t take long at all to lift the structures, details, trees, and other vegetation from the layout and remove its legs. It was hard to do at first, but then all I had to do was look at the lumber, flextrack, and scenery materials sitting axiously in the garage, and all bad feelings disappeared. Now I have a much better planned, much better executed layout. The hulk of the old one is still in the garage, propped against the wall, and oddly enough, my 4-year-old (who wasn’t yet born when I built it) seems more nostalgic for it than I am. But even then he conceded that Daddy’s new layout is “way better.”
