I recently decided to try my luck at building a river. Cut the plywood, laid out the foam, placed the rock molds, bought the bridge, and plastered it all up. Due to having to remove track on mainline #1, and masking tape on mainline#2, I can’t run any trains tonight. I usually run them for about 45 minutes to an hour every night I’m not working. I’ve got other projects I could be working on, but don’t feel like it. I guess I really am an operator, because I’m going through withdrawl! Sure envy you guy’s out there that come up with a plan before building a layout!
I know how you feel. I’m off this week (teacher’s life, tough[:D]) and I should be doing things around the house or plastering up my mountain on my layout. It’s still in the cardboard strip stage, but I’d rather run trains. Running 2 postwar and 1 modern right now 2037, 1862 general and mth aerotrain. I also run just about every night I’m off. Usually at least 1/2 hour to 45 minutes.
Hope you get’em running soon.

My two daughters teach High School Math. From what I know about the dedication of teachers and their work load, you deserve the rest. (The ‘things around the house’ will always be there) Just run the trains and enjoy!
mpzpw3,
Get yourself some spare track and run some trains on the floor when you can’t run them on the layout. That’s what we did. Floor running is actually a nice diversion from time to time.

Yes, I did that for about three years and did I catch it from this group. [xx(][(-D]
We are doing that as well. I got my son the Rudolph train set this past X-mas and we have that loop of track set up on the floor next to the table layout. So, if the table is “under construction” we can still run trains on the floor. [:)]
