Non Accidental Release in Salt Lake City

If this AP story in the UT press holds up http://www.harktheherald.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&sid=49698&mode=thread&order=0&thold=0

it points out a big problem that railroads have with so called no accidental releases (NARs). There are more than a few cases when a crew will notice a hazmat car leaking because it has not been loaded properly.

Have any of the trainmen out there run into this problem?

The newspapers here today said the car that began to leak was not rated to carry the material it was carrying. [:)]

Isn’t this the same one that some folks thought had been shot at?

Yep that is the one that supposely was shot at. Now the papers say it was not the right car for the material it was carrying[:o)]

So much for the conspiracy theorists on this one…

The SLC news hasnt really said anything more about it being shot, so I think that the acids just ate away at the sides of the car.
