Brand new 4-6-0 (ho) Will not run on standard DC set up. Track voltage is fine, track current jumps way high when the throttle is up. No lights or movement. Other trains work fine!!! Please help??

If your amperage is spiking, it’s an electrical short.
Any suggestions on locating the short??

Take it back to the hobby shop where you bought it and ask for your money back – you obviously have one with a serious electrical problem. Tampering with it could void your warranty. If nothing else, box it up and ship it to Bachmann and they’ll replace it. All they require is a copy of your purchase receipt and they’ll replace it for free.
Check and see if both tender trucks have the insulated wheels on the same side. The Bachmann tender is designed so that it should pick up from both rails rather than one. One truck should be picking up from the left rail and the other from the right rail. I don’t know if it makes any difference which truck picks up from which rail.
