Non running BLI locos

I have 2 BLI locos( hudson and mikado) all functions work but will not go forward or reverse. I have used DC and MRC Prodigy Advance. They used to run fine on both systems .Just stoped . I also have a BLI E9. No problems yet!!
Any help???

Patrick

Patrick,

You may have to reset them both. The instructions on how to do that should be in the manual. I’ve never done it but I think it’s just a matter of switching around a jumper.

You need to do a factory reset. Had this on a GG!. The BLI manual will tell you what to do. I don’t have mine in front of me to give you details, but it is in the manual.

Do the reset and get it over with. It is painless and fast. Then reset all of the customized CV’s.

You must have mistakenly input a change that altered the start voltage or something on those two.

Whenever I can’t figure out what I did, I just do the reset to get back to running trains.

If the reset does not work, email BLI at the address below. They have always been very helpful to me.

Here’s the text from the manual to do a jumper reset…

• Turn off the main track power.
• Remove the tender body or access panel to reveal the circuit board. If it is a plastic tender, there
are no screws; it is a press fit to the chassis. Die cast tenders will have retaining screws under the
chassis.
• Locate the black “clearing” jumper (see below) and remove by pulling it up.
• Reapply main track power, the horn and bell will sound after a few seconds.
• Turn main track power off and reinstall jumper, and tender cab or access panel. The locomotive has
now been returned to original factory settings including all Analog and DCC settings.

Good luck,
Jeff

The BLI Hudson, for some reason, comes with a magnet that you wave over the top of the tender because there is no way to open it up. It should be in a plastic bag inside the box. They all it a “Magic Wand.” I had to use a stronger magnet than they provided to get the reset to work.

Really?? I had the shell off of my Hudson tender this morning… It’s an older run, did they Change something??

You may have put them in one of the shutdown modes as well. Even if you reset the decoder they will not come out of shutdown mode, however the BLI manual should have instructions on how to get them out of it. On my BLI Class A, using the Prodigy Advance, I need to double press the F6 key to get them out of shutdown.
