The heritage units are just a wonderful treat to all of us old time railroad fans. The Erie is one more outstanding example.

I know I’m being really picky, but I think all of these units would look a lot better if they had headlights on the nose!

Very Cool Unit, however I always thought the darker color was blue. On this unit it looks green. I’m assuming that NS got it right and I’m mistaken.

I agree Richard, but hey I’m happy how they are

You’re probally right about the headlights Richard, but at least NS is honoring their heritage better than UP did.

Ah, the Erie. My father was a releif director along with legidary Erie photographer Bob Collins at the old Jersey City passenger terminal’s Terminal Tower. No place in the world could have looked and yes smelled more like a railroad than Jersey City’s Pavonia Ave. Erie Station. With 13 stub tracks, ferry Slips, three floatbridges and a classic ninetieth century wooden terminal building you could not ask for much more. It’s nice to see something remembered. As a child it was as close to heaven as I ever expect to get.

I would have gone for the black and yellow freight scheme, rather than than the passenger—for me, that would only look right on an E8 (or even better, a PA!). Still, Erie’s my hometown road, and it looks super! THANKS, NS!

Beautiful–but what’s with the rusted wheelsets. You’d think they could’ve been cleaned up some way since they went to the expense and trouble for the exempliary paint work. Seems as if all the heritage units have rusted wheelsets?

They got it right…visit an ERIE E8 at Port Jervis NY turntable to see the original Erie colors…now where’s the unit in EL colors? NS runs on original DL&W trackage too.
