My brother will shortly be starting a new job in Ft. Payne, AL and will be living in the general area. I noticed on a map that the NS has a line through Ft. Payne but know nothing about it. Is it a main line or a branch? Anybody know about train frequency, etc. Thanks in advance.
Should be fairly active, Jim:
Main line, one track, between Chattanooga and Birmingham
Density: 4
Signals: ABS
History: Now NS, former Southern Railway and Alabama Great Southern Railway
[bow] Thanks buddy, I appreciate the info.
I railfan at Fort Payne everyday only need 3 frequencies very nice line to railfan, due to the line connecting straight to Birmingham where every class 1 meets up at you never know what you’ll see here’s 2 Examples, NS 730 came thru with the Central of Georgia Heritage unit leading then the next day came back just the same exept empty, 2nd example, NS 16T has recently been having Canadian power & to add that in the past week I have seen a GP50HH, SD40-2HH, & a GP38-2HH all running on different trains. The best time to watch trains is during the Morning from 8:00AM- about 9 9:30AM & at about 3 PM & then at night IDK the times I barely railfan that long but you’ll see NS 367 & NS 142. there are 7+ trains a day. Here are the frequencies I use. Need any more info here’s my youtube account http://www.youtube.com/user/tartopfan?feature=mhee Have fun railfanning!!!
