Thank you NS. Thank you for making the best railroad in North America a little better. P.S. The unit looks better than imagined.
I agree Jim, can’t wait to see what the S&A unit looks like!
Sharp unit! Nice work. Can’t wait to see more.
But why can’t I expand the photo? What annoying anti-downloading program are you using now?

Mr. Karlson’s comment is most unfair and unwarranted. NS, for its own operations, has stated that a 25mph railroad is all they need in order to run local freights that service the on line industries that remain. If the public wants passenger trains, and I fervently hope they do, in Michigan and across the nation, and wants them operated at speeds necessary for a credible service, then the public needs to pay for it.
Neither NS or any other freight railroad has no obligation to pay for infrastructure it does not need. NS has, pardon the pun, a very good track record for being open to hosting passenger operations on its property. NS’ only requirements are that it be appropriately compensated and that its freight operations not be adversely impacted.
can’t wait for NYC!!!
NS- I know the basic black on your locomotives matches the color of your bottom line, but the color on the Heritage units sure is nice to see!
Thanks.
A classy unit! It would be nice to see a green and gray unit with today’s horse head NS logo on all of their units. It would be great to see all of the heritage units together.
These can be found on Facebook
Well Done Norfolk Southern! Now that makes a Southern fan Proud. I wonder if these paint scheme wil be in Model Railroad Locomotives to buy. When will this locomotive be in the Carolinas so in can get some good pictures of her.
Thanks to NS for painting this heritage unit in Southern passenger colors. It looks great, but I was surprised. Maybe NS decided that Southern’s freight scheme of black & white with gold striping, although sharp, was a bit too much like its own black & white. Can’t wait to see the other units. Like others here, I hope NS will run them all system-wide.
I do hope that these units will run system-wide so that we all can enjoy seeing them, and not just run in captive service somewhere. New locos have to be painted anyway, so why not in something different and eye-catching. Kudos N.S.
Its nice to see the old rail companies colors. Its a chance for the younger generation to see what it was like before all the mergers
Love it!
Nice to see this paint scheme on a locomotive in revenue service again. The white (gray) band along the walkway is too tall though.

Now that’s what a locomotive should look like!!! That really is a pretty paint job. Those guys in Chattanooga can handle a spray gun.
