Norfolk Southern Slug

No pics unfortunately.

For those who railfan in the Delaware area, I spotted a NS loco trailing a slug in the yards by the edgemore power plant a couple of days ago. Was doing 75 on the highway so couldn’t snap a pic

If I’m not mistaken NS has 4 road slugs (RPE4C) numbered 700 - 703 that are mated to GP40-2’s. Other slugs on the NS are 912-913 (RPE4) and 914-941 (RPE4D). There may be more. My knowledge of the NS is limited.

Slugs. Aren’t they neat little oddities? Gotta love them the unsung heros of real work…

Here is road slug #935 attached to GP40-2 #3073:

Slugs are listed in the engine roster:

There is a Norfolk Southern slug at the Rockport Yard in Cleveland. Rockport is at West 150th and Brookpark Rd. I travel 480 often and it’s always there, usually hooked up to a GP38 working the yard.
