Where did you get your train sounds? Thanks for the video.
Great video.
nice job weathering sound and everything
Man, what a realistic moment. And the sound was remarkable. I forgot more than once that I was watching a model train and not the real thing. Nice, nice job. I’m betting your whole layout would be worth a gander, to be sure.
Great video. Loved the sound effects.
Josh, I am not interested watching a video of a freight train passing one spot for 2:49, nor am I interested in watching it again to count the number of cars being pulled by 5 engines. From what I can see in the background is a very interesting and thoughtfully designed layout. I would have liked to see where your train is going and where it has been. This is why I enjoy watching videos of other reader’s layouts. Sorry for being so critical, but when I want to look at a train go by, I crack a few “ginger ales” and watch my own, which I frequently do.
Some nice weathering!
Cool video, Crossing signals are a little on the BRIGHT SIDE. We need crossing with brighter lights in real life.
Awesome job!! Looks great and sounds great.
Looks like a great layout with awesome sound. I really like the graffiti on your cars.
Terrific job of weathering cars; great video.
Fabulous job, amazing detail and weathering. The sound fit great with the video. a layout to be proud of for sure.
Absolutely blows me away !! As a former loco engineer, I am amazed at the realism of this video. LJF
Nice video. Sure would like to see a magazine article about how you did such effective wheel squeal and flat wheel sound effects. They were superb.
A better video than a lot of the videos put on You Tube by rail fans.
I agree that I generally don’t like 2:49 minutes of freight trains passing, but the nuances of each car and the wheel sounds far and away over shadowed the normal bordem. The reason for the short strain with 5 engines could have been repossitioning activity to maintenance sheds for a couple of them (3)? I noticed some were older units. Model railroading imagination at work here. Thanks for the video, you put in a heck of a lot of time and it shows.
Just one comment-where is the FRED (flashing rear end device).
I enjoyed the video; as others have noted, it’s not usually very riveting watching a long string of cars go past a fixed point. However, when that is accompanied by very realistic sounds (which really benefit being played back on a system able to generate reasonable fidelity and moderately good bass), it has a more compelling reason to be viewed for more than a few seconds. That being said, I am really eager to hear just how said sounds were generated, and if in fact they are an integral part of the layout. (Alan Keller’s videos come to mind; the sounds are good, but I’m sure it’s post-production enhancement!) Nothing wrong with that, but wouldn’t it be wonderful to have that sound in “real time”, all the time, on the layout?? Just ask Lance Mindheim… Hope it becomes reality in the near future! Great-looking layout; keep up the good work!
It was almost like watching the real thing. Yes, there are those who will complain about watching a train passing a specific spot along the right of way, and I wonder what they will do when they have to wait at a crossing when a 100 car train or longer is passing them. At least the train was moving at speed, many of the prototypes of similar or longer length don’t move at speed, especially when the train is leaving the yard, or even passing through the city. I enjoyed the video and believe we can gain some ideas from it.
