Norfolk & Western in the Appalachians
As a N&W fan, I was excited to see that this book was available after being out of print for some time. I ordered it and anxiously awaited for it to arrive.
I must in all honesty say that I am very disappointed in the quality of this edition. It is a Print on Demand format of the original edition. It is printed on paper that appears to be only slightly better than newsprint. The photos are of poor print quality, dark and muddy with no detail in the shadows (drivers, side rods and valve gear are hidden in ‘murk’ in nearly all of them).
I have purchased many Kalmbach publications over the past 40 years and have always been pleased and even impressed with the quality, however I would return this book if it were not non-returnable.
Sorry, Kalmbach Publishing, but this book is far below your usual standards for your publications.
Enjoyable reading, captures the Y-class at their best. Good information about N&W. Pictures were okay in quality.
