be nice to see that RDC all cleaned up and on display, it was, long ago pretty nice looking

If I am not mistaken, there is no longer a direct rail connection to CSX at Bonsal. The museum’s tracks are physically isolated from the national rail network.

The RDC probably was not built strong enough to be cut into a frt train and would have become a rear-end only move acquiring hellacious switching charges, airbrake prepping, a COTS procedure then set-up for DIT, dead-in-train and train air brake testing.
The S-1: it’s highly likely that the locomotives’ trucks are solid bearing rather than roller bearing.

Why use trucks to move equipment from one rail-served site to another?
