While reading up on a website I follow; The followig article was found:

North Korea Is Now Launching Ballistic Missiles From Trains And That’s A Big Deal

"Rail-mobile missiles offer North Korea a relatively low-cost way to rapidly disperse weapons while also making them very hard to target."

The Russians have ‘reactivated’ some of their rail mounted missile launching rail trains, and they are apparently, still active, and being operated(?) and being currently, trained with?//
Not sure of the current status of the missile trains in the United States? Last I had heard, they were on display in the country (at least some of that rolling stock.) )That was via a Wikipedia article… So who knows?

The date on this article [09/15/2021] shows the information to be current(?) So the source is normally a credible resource.

Relying on memory, the USAF proposed launching Minuteman missiles from rail cars in the early Sixties and the the Peacekeeper in the Eighties (“Rail Garrison”?)

Looks like I was right

Enh- big deal, Lionel had a missile-launching boxcar many years ago- my cousins had one on their layout in the attic.

You touched on the very points I was trying point out. Another case of things being old; and in new iterations, become ‘new’ again…

Who knows? Possibly, the Norko’s leader was inspired by his own Lionel missle launcher, on his layout in his Pyongyang basement ?

It seems that, in this fast moving world we’re living in; of technological leaps, and bounds. A 200 year old technology, still has a role to play, even in the world of supersonic, airborne this, and that. Possibly, even Lionel, was way ahead of its time?

Lionel probably couldn’t help being ahead of their time with this gent running the company, however briefly:
