Even if the discontinuance is postponed, it is only a stay of execution. Ontario finances are dire and, for better or worse, the Ontario Northland doesn’t warrant any special attention from the government. In fact, it is seen as a poorly run business with no hope of ever coming off the dole. Please don’t misinterpret what I wrote as I believe that the Ontario Northland performs a valuable service for an area lacking reasonable transportation options. I’m still planning to ride north on Thursday and return on Friday.
