Not sure belong here.. being a stranger in the diner?

Hello one and all, I just sort of wandered in here and you folks sound like you’ve been friends forever. Maybe I’ll just sit over here and have a Ginger Ale and mind my own business.

Dennis

The diner would be a much better place for that.

Yeah. Nice thing about the Diner. We’ve all been friends forever, even those who show up for the first time. Welcome aboard. [#welcome]

Dennis, I think you accidentally hit “New Post” instead of “Reply” and started a new thread…

Come on over to the dinner and join us! Everyone is welcome over there, and if someone gets out of line a guy named Vinnie will put him in his place… (He can bend crow bars and rail in his bare hands…) [:-^]

I’m hungry, let’s eat.

Cho CHo-

I agree you must have hit the post a new thread link instead of the reply to post link in the diner.

The diner is open to all who are members of these forums. The diner is the ONLY “room” on these forums where you can post anything you want that is [#offtopic] of trains and MRRing So LONG AS it is NOT a :political, religious, risque or other “flame war” topic.

You can, in the Diner, talk about your life and goings-on on a daily {or hourly even} basis.

Many lurk in the diner and don’t post. But If anybody wants to, they can.

Many of us have been “friends forever” but newcommers are always welcome and if you visit regularly and post often, you will become one of “us”[:-^]

So comon to the diner and join us for a bite.

You will find some great people (interesting) on this forum, and if you ever wanted to start the hobby you find ALL the answers from forum members.

ChoChoWillie (and Woodman, also) - not to worry about food running short (or beverage) - in the Diner, it won’t raise your cholesterol or increase your waist, either. And whatever kind of food you want, just ask Zoe & Chloe (the twin servers), or Flo or Janie or one of our other servers and they’ll have the cook fix it up for you. [swg]

I never visit Eliot’s Trackside Diner, but I dropped by after reading this thread. Most of the names are unfamiliar to me or only vaguely recognizable.

It reminds me of the Coffee Pot on the CTT forum.

I am sure that newcomers are “welcome” just as they are at the Coffee Pot but let’s face it, it is different than the other parts of the forum.

Even if you wanted to, it is difficult to break into a group of people, any group of people, that have known each other a long time and have been engaging in personal conversation on a regular basis.

Nothing wrong with that, just not for everyone.

Rich

In the case of the diner it’s only as hard as you make it. Do you think I’ve been there from the start? Nope. I made myself known there and developed friendships with some of the people. As with any group, some accepted me, some didn’t. I accepted some of them, others I didn’t. Over time friendships grow or they don’t. You’ll never know if you don’t try.

Ah come on Rich you have to know Jeffery and I. [swg] I break everything amd Jeffery fixes everything!

Ken

Dennis,

the Diner is open to any one willing to come in and share his/her day with us. Think of it as a real diner where folks start the day with a breakfast and rejoin after the day´s work for supper. After a little while you´ll get to know us and see what´s on our plate. It takes a little while and some dedication to become part of the crowd. In no way we are a closed shop! The majority of us have never met, and most likely will not do, as we live in all four corners of the globe.

I joined about three years ago and I am happy that I did - I have gained so much. We “Diners” are united not only in our common interest for model railroading, but in friendship and care for each other.

So do drop by - I´ll buy you a [B]!

LOL

Ken, I did indeed recognize your name, Jeff’s and Ulrich’s. The rest were unknown to me.

Don’t misunderstand me. I have nothing against the Diner. I just wanted to lend a note of support to the OP who expressed timidity about getting involved in the conversation. The Diner is not the same as the MRR forums. It is a more highly personal form of conversation and not for everyone.
