Not sure if I'm crazy...

…but I’m considering getting my car painted in the AT&SF ‘Warbonnet’ scheme. Is there anyone else out there who’s crazy enthusiastic enough to get their vehicle of choice painted in their railroad’s colours?

Not going to repaint my new mini van in Santa Fe colors. Some dumb guy driving a truck in BN colors would probably ram me.

Actually we had this thread just a couple months ago:

You’re completely nuts!

Walnuts, anyone?

Mark

You’re certifiable! Wanna a Walnetto?

I couldnt help but to chuckle [(-D]

I was talking to Doyle McCormick at Trainfest and a guy came up and showed Doyle a picture of his Stationwagon in Daylight paint. never seen a guy more conused and worried about the general state of society in my life, or ever will.

A unique way to form a “Merger”[(-D]

I seen cars with flat black and pinstripes-----I’d love to see yours in warbonnet scheme----[:D]

I even thought of doing GN----seeing as how I have a “goat”[:-,]

lol, but who are you calling dumb? I happen to be driving a green expedition at the moment. I could get some black paint for the top.[:-,]

I can’t find the picture right now, I remember some 20 years ago Santa Fe Modeler had some pictures of a car and small equipment trailer used by a Santa Fe PR team, which I believe was in Santa Fe warbonnet colors.

There is a color photo of a company car, red & white two-tone w Santa Fe red and white herald, circa 1967 in the book Santa Fe Trackside with Bill Gibson, published by Morning Sun Books, p.63

Well, mate, if you weren’t sure before you published this post you have left no doubt now that you are completely crazy wanting to paint your car in Santa Fe “Warbonnett” colours. This paint scheme would probably look great on a PT Cruiser or an old FJ or any other car with a verticle grill rather than one that was horizontal. You sure are crazy, but in a very good way! Done right with excellent graphics and well planned what you have in mind would look a grillion dollars

I was only half-considering it, as a half-baked idea. The car in question is a 1990 Honda Accord. I would be crazy to go ahead and do it, especially considering the one or two small dents in it…

You need to get a life outside of trains. Some of the stuff you post is utterly ridiculous.[(-D]

someplace I have a shot of my old 85 Silverado in a psudo D&H lightning stripe scheme. While I was repainting it white and blue I had the bottom half in primer grey and the top half in blue with a light yellow masking tape stripe. To be honest, it did not look too bad. I will have to see if I can find the picture.

Many years ago a friend of ours had a 1976 Plymouth Volare station wagon that was BN Green—and it did have a Black roof!![(-D]----he had the bottom skid plated so that he could barnstorm along back roads and not puncture anything—[:-^]

No you are not nuts. But if you add a Leslie five tone horn on the roof and a bell on the front bumper you definitely are.

something to consider here…

In the USA there ara aproximatly 300,000,000 + people. A demografic I got from a mnagazine sales dept a while ago said there are about 300,000 railroad interested people in the States. Tha equates out to **.**1% of the people will know what the symbolism of that paint job will be. which means you will probably have to explain it to the other 99.9% of the people. I am guessing that you are not from the states but, I figure the demografics are roughly the same for other countries as well.

Dan

Hello no your not crazy well maybe not sure but if you do it. Drive it to the train show in Berea Ohio next year and park next to the guy who painted his truck in Conrail colors. Have nice day Frank

That might be a bit tricky - last time I checked, the Honda Accord wasn’t amphibious…
