The city by the bay has a pretty quiet rail scene now. A former transcon is now a nearby biking path. The name of a prominate fallen flag adorns the big, rusting trestle leading to a dock that looks like it hasn’t seen a train in ages. That fallen flag gave way to another fallen flag owner, who was gobbled up by a Class 1 in recent memory. Where am I?
Duluth, MN or Superior, WI.
no, and no
Hmmm… is this location somewhere in the midwest?
Yes (no rocky mountains[;)])
Is this “city by the bay” located in Ohio?
no
I am now genuinely perplexed. Somewhere in Indiana along Lake Michigan?
is it in wisconsin
no
yes
Ashland, WI? Chequamegon Bay, NP, Soo Line, WC, CN?
Yes,yes, yes, yes, yes and yes!! How about that! I thought that maybe a good clue would be that only the locals can pronounce the name of the bay. Do you live in the area?
Arrrrrrgggghhh!!! And I was initially so close![banghead]
The mention of it being a transcon threw me off… that was a transcon through there?
Reference was to Northern Pacific being a transcon. Brian-why don’t you do a where is it? I think you’d be good at it.
I’ve tried it a few months back, but just didn’t have the time to invest in it (I tried using other’s pictures, don’t have enough of my own). I guess I’m having more fun trying to solve them.
EDIT: Time for bed here. I’ll be watching tomorrow night.
Not from the area, but took a weekend trip up there around 10 years ago. Have railmap, will travel. [:)]
