I’m getting pumped up about the Gratiot Valley Train Show this Nov. 4th! It seems to me that the show combines quantity and quality very nicely, with ample parking and still only 5 bucks to get in! I doubt if anyone would disagree that it’s the best show in SE Michigan, possibly one of the best in the Midwest.
This shot is nice because it shows four of the buildings I’m taking to Gratiot Valley.
As promised, below are links to two slide shows that display all the pieces I’m exhibiting this year. Hit the mouse during the short presentation and you can pause it.
Engineerjoey…you’re from Troy, my hometown! I’m in Big Rapids now home of the former PRR/PC line long since gone. The show was great last year and worth the drive for folks even out of state. I’d like to get down but it probably won’t be this year…I know my dad and his little train club, The Huntington Woods Model Railroaders, will be there as visitors.
I don’t know how long ago you lived here, but it’s getting pretty built up now.
I didn’t know there was a club in the Huntington Woods area, Have your dad stop by my display if you’d like. I’m still looking for a club. I found one too snooty and one, how can I put this? … not snooty enough?
My family moved there in '78…(I was 4)My parents still live between Crooks and Livernois at 18 mile. I can’t beleive the difference between now and then!
The “club” is more of a group of guys who really like trains that are working with teens in the area to get them into model railroading and teach them the basics…very informal and small right now. If you are looking for a place to operate, they don’t have a layout for anything like that…yet. I am sure as they go along and get into the swing of things, there will eventually be modular layouts, booths at clubs, etc…right now it is small.
Snooty? that’s about as opposite as you can get!! If you like I can put you in touch with the “founder” he’s a friend of my dad’s. I’m sure he would enjoy talking to you. Let me know via PM.
