Now where am I?

I am in a small town the northern part of a western state. This is now a 1 railroad town due to a recent merger but hosts 2 other tennant roads. Before that this was a 2 railroad town with two busy mainlines. And for nearly half a century there was a 3rd railroad too, this was built as a shortcut between two mainlines and hosted the last mixed trains in this state. The first line was laid through here in the 1860s. The second in the first decade of the 1900s. And the third arrived in the 1920s. All of these railroads ended in PACIFIC. One of these railroads left town but came back via merger. What town am I in?

I don’t have to dig deep in my memory to know that one ! [;)]

After last one I thought I would make this one easier. Dale, PM me with the answer so others can play.

I will make an educated guess and say that you are in Sandpoint, Idaho

Paul, good guess but no.

Those PMs don’t work well with me. I’m not going to answer it for awhile.

The first line “out” intrigued me for years because of what happened, or didn’t, after it was abandoned.

I should have said e-mail me.

Are the 3 railroads mentioned SP,UP and WP?

Spokane?

Could be MS

ndbprr, That is a good guess but there were 5 railroads in Spokane. Three did have Pacific in ther name though.

Well…“could be” is sort like “might be”, and if it" might be", it “might not be”. So, I guess the only thing to ask is…to be, or not to be?[:o)]

So, I’ll take that as a yes.

Good call

Chad: Are you in the running for starring on the side of milk cartons?[%-)]

Sorry, the subject header just reached out and grabbed me[(-D][(-D][(-D]

[(-D] Naa, they only do that if there is someone that wants you found.[;)]

Would it be Ogden, Utah?

Welcome to the board zofon. No it is not Ogden.

And the most famous landmark in this town is “Donna’s Ranch,” which was roughly in the northeast quadrant of the wye. I had the t-shirt, but I think my wife threw it away.

Oh yeah – one of the railroads had a helper grade east of town and the town was a helper terminal during the steam era for that road.

Winnemuca, Nevada?

Winnemucca had just two railroads.

Wells, NV?
