After a brief pause at CP-SO at South Fork, Pa due to traffic ahead, an Eastbound NS 36A gets back up to speed as it continues its Eastbound climb toward Gallitzin on a cold raw March day along the NS West Slope. A pair of SD40-2 helpers brings up the rear of the train. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u5Z1M4qjSJk&fmt=18

…Certainly is evident it’s gaining on gravity and putting it back up to it’s running speed. Certainly a good vantage point to record the action.
Something was ‘collywhompus’ or ‘out of whack’ with the link posting on the thread…I tried three or four times to get the link to clickable status and it wouldn’t work right…Oddly enough, I have the thread set to carbon my regular e-mail and the link worked there. At any rate, the vantagepoint is actually an old bridge abutment for the old Grant Street Bridge…which was torn down in the 1980’s after a new bridge was built a bit further East. I am visiting my mother down in Florida this week…She, along with my Dad were born and raised in South Fork…but moved away in the early 60’s…I showed her this video and she got a kick out of it…
It’s always interesting to see action and sites between Altoona and Johnstown being originally from Somerset Co. Of course, we’re meaning railroad sites.
The photo of my Avatar is near Jennerstown at our favorite spaghetti place when we’re in the area. Lamonica’s. {Next visit, last of May}.
