conrail does operate in michigan i believe???
i find it ironic…the name Michigan Central was in the headlines alot in the 1800’s…name reappears after almost a half century and its in the headlines…
Yes they do detroit shared assets.
Now that you mention it that is amazing isn’t it.
the MC had a checkered and storied early life…the Brotherhood of the Footboard was started in Niles and Dexter Mi both on the MC main…farmers along the line in the 1850’s went thru a time of ripping up track stoning even shooting at trains …became involved the political football that was Illinios railroading of the 1850’s including a race to be the “first” eastern road to reach Chicago…which it lost to the Lakeshore & Michigan Southern…yup the MC has been in the headlines before…
As for the custumers they will be serving thier is a fairly new ethenol plant in albion i don’t know if they serve ralston purina in battle creek.
How many carloads can MC expect to handle per year? How many trains does NS currently operate on these lines?
Yes ,they do.
This effort has obviously died and NS still owns the line. The information about the Michigan Central on the WATCO website has been removed. Does anyone have a copy of the map that they had on their website? I never saved the image, and now it’s gone. I’d like to get a look at that one more time… If you have a copy, would you mind sending it my way? Thanks!
The text is still there using the wayback website, but photographs and maps don’t show up.
