Just checked the current roster of NS locomotives. The C39-8’s are not listed anymore on the web site, not even as stored as they have been since the first of the year.
Are they going to be sold, scrapped, or rebuilt(HA HA).

Sold very definately, scrapped or rebuilt depends on who the buyer is. The only chance of rebuilding is in South America.
They’re gone. Probably going to south america. Too bad that none will get preserved (most likely).
Sadly, there are still a few C39-8’s floating around in service. I had one of these pieces of junk on the head end last trip. Sadly still, the only people who love these things are the people who never had to operate them.
Too bad they all haven’t been donated to my Rails to Reefs program. [;)]

Really? I know the NS C39-8Es are still in service… interesting.
I had them on the point alerady. I’m biased though; I like old trucks, cars, and locomotives. After 1,000 trips in a widebody dash-9, I love getting something different. I’m also a sucker for standard cab GEs any day.
Very few old GEs are preserved though. And like it or not… they are part of history.
