No doubt Mr. Harrison would scrap all these locomotives in the rebuild program as being not cost efficient.
It wouldn’t surprise me if NS doesn’t purchase a single new locomotive for the rest of the decade by the way their rebuild program is going.
Recently, a number of Dash-8’s have been sent to scrap @ Cresson, PA. I wonder if the 8.5 program won’t be curtailed. BTW, NS ordered 47 ET-44’s…and three ES-44’s.
Widecab Dash 8s are a 90s product. The spartan (standard) cab C40-8 was built in the 80s.
