Joe:
Something does not quite ring true here.
(1) NS has only one active embargo out there and that is in Tennessee. (6-04, Sheet 195)
(2) Are you drowning in inbound cars and NS has nowhere nearby to store them under contract to your company? Your company would not want the demurrage charges for holding cars for days/weeks/months in NS yards.[:0]
(3) That “over saturation” would not be because Ma Nature has had just a few bad days there and you have subgrade liquifaction and the track is ready to float away?

ns stores our cars over in Bryan .Mother nature hasnt affected our switches that I know of yet. However earlier this week we did have a powder river in a siding by where i work waiting to get in detroit edison. with this snow they are calling for that could slow things down for everyone.

Is there some sort of time limit on this?
Or is it just “Until Further Notice”?
Are trucks starting to arrive now, instead of the rail cars?
Dont know about a time limit but we do get wood by truck and rail. its just cheaper to get it by rail.

That’s too bad, it’s never nice to hear about fewer goods going by rail.
Why don’t they just store the darn cars in Toledo and run an extended operating local to the plant? Don’t they have room at Fostoria even?
and just what part of demurrage don’t you understand?
Time to talk to “Brand X” railroad? , or is this what this is all about (crossing frogs and restricted access)…As Kozzie would say, Hmmmmmmm???
Andrew
fostoria is too far away and is crowded enough.Im sure toledo is crowded too so we are left with the small yard in Bryan.guess I’ll have to ask more questions.

Mudchicken,
Junction doesn’t know about paying demurrage, nor does he know you can’t switch a full yard.

I suppose it depends on how bad the company wants those inbound cars plus how quick the previous loadeds can be unloaded. I have heard of ADM bring in tons of cars of grain in a day and it requiring several times of switching and has plugged up Trillium’s Feeder Yard and Ontario Street Yard in Welland. It in turn has required CN and CP who brings it in, to clog up Southern Yard (CN) and Welland Yard (CP). I don’t know how much money ADM spends on that but I guess that is demurrage.
Trillium didn’t before but now uses the Ontario Street Yard alot since increased grain shipments from Robin Hood Flour too. CN doesn’t have as big of problem because of Southern Yard, Niagara Falls Yard, Port Robinson Yard and soon a Fort Erie Yard. CP however has only Welland Yard and from what I have seen on the CN supply trains, CP must handle all 30+ grain cars for Robin Hood in addition to some cars for ADM.
Start with a dictionary Junction, think of it as renting a car and a parking space.
