NS extends lease on North Carolina Railroad
I think what North Carolina has done with thier state passenger service is fantastic, it could be modeled by other states but it is also unique since the state owns the track. Could the states owning the tracks be the “key” to passenger trains in the U.S. I wonder how much the lease cost NS, but I don’t think NS has any money woes either.
Now if they would only extend it east to Wilmington.
This is the same senario that the NS has with the city of Cincinnati for use of the formerly named CNO&TP. What is the average cost per mile for both routes to the NS?
An early example of a shovel-ready project?
Love to see it east to Wilmington , then west to Hamlet or to Fayetteville.
