I work near Ashville for the forest service. I plan on takeing a cross country trip to photograph trains. How far to NS main lines or where are they located. in the state if at all.

is there a main yard in Ashville or just the main line

I work for NS in NC. There is a yard in Asheville. A large classification yard in Linwood (between Salisbury and Lexington between I85 and the Yadkin River). Moderate sized yards in Greensboro, Winston-Salem, Charlotee, small yards in High Point, Durham, Raliegh, Hickory, Morehead City, Spencer
