I just today received my 2005 Norfolk Southern annual report, and part of it is a 24-minute DVD called “In the Wake of Katrina.” It was interesting watching the reconstruction feats NS had to pull in just a few days, and the documentary was no more self-congratulatory than it had to be.
I don’t know if these DVD’s are available to the general public, but the Investor Relations department of large corporations are usually happy to send out their annual reports. Norfolk Southern’s website is nscorp.com.
I just watched this DVD. It is a pretty
slick (in the best sense of the word)
production that shows how NS overcame
the enormous engineering and logistical
problems of restoring rail service to
New Orleans and the Gulf Coast.
My first thought was how nice and very informative the NS Annual report is. Its full of info and commentary on business segments, carloadings etc. Very well done, as opposed to the CSX report I received several weeks ago, that had almost no information, other then what the SEC mandates, and was not even very well done graphically. NS, a class act.
